We are accepting applications for Substitutes for all counties, Meade, Hardin, Larue, Nelson, Washington, and Marion. Substitutes are hired on as "as needed" basis - filling in the for a teacher or teacher assistant when they are absent from work.  Must be 18 years of age, required to have, at minimum, a high school diploma/GED, and successfully complete pre-employment screenings (reference checks, criminal records check, Child Abuse and Neglect Check, physical, drug screen, TB, and Policy Council approval).

Early Head Start Specialist (Central Office, Lebanon, Marion County)

Special Needs Collaborators

Head Start has  openings for a Special Needs Collaborators for Radcliff/Meade County and for Bardstown/New Haven .  The SNC will coordinate the disabilities activities for children with a defined disability.  This includes establishing and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with other Head Start services, maintaining records work with other agencies, implementing screenings, assessing and working with teachers and parents to aid their understanding of the needs of the child receiving services.  Establish an Individual Education Plan in cooperation with parents, teachers and public school officials. Bachelors or Associates Degree in Education, Special Education or in a related area. Experience working with families and children with special needs. Strong knowledge of disabilities issues. Meade County Head Start Teacher

The Head Start teacher establishes a learning environment and plans and implements a daily program for child development activities designed to meet the individual needs of the child on one classroom. The teacher coordinates with other component staff to involve parents in education activities to enhance their role as the prime educator of their children. The teacher provides structured education activities for pre-school age children participating in the program. Activities associated with the job include supervising a teacher assistant and volunteers, making recommendations regarding education programs curricula and implement program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with governing regulations including all Federal Performance Standards, CLASS and ALLSTARS. Preparing, posting and implementing lesson plans using Frogstreet Press Curriculum, conduct two Parent/Teacher conferences per year, two home visits per year, participating in and assisting with staff training activities and ensuring the thorough and timely completion of children's classroom records. Must have an Associates or Bachelor's ECE or IECE or equivalent.

Meade County Teacher Assistant

Participated in classroom activities under direction of a certified teacher.  Supervised and managed students.  Complied with all governmental regulations regarding the care of children.  Observed and evaluated student performance.  Implemented lesson plans prepared by classroom teachers.  Instructed and monitored students.  Operated and cared for equipment used in the classroom.  Presented subject matter to students under teacher direction.  Organized and labeled materials.  Provided extra assistance to students with special needs.  Prepared training aids for the classroom.  Performed routine clerical functions.  Participated in classroom set-up and clean-up.  Participated in in-service trainings.  Completed timely and accurate documentation.  Maintained order in classroom. Assume the role of teacher in absence of the teacher.

Central Office

The ECE Specialist ensure staff has the tool and resourced needed to provide quality services to children and families in the Head Start program. Coordinates, designs and provides training relevant to the needs of the target audience. Ensures follow-up training is provided. Provides information to field staff regarding training opportunities, seeks out and shares best practices and regulations in early childhood education. Posses and applies knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations and Head Start Performance Standards related to child development services,. Plans and conducts technical assistance with site visits. Assist with cluster-wide training. Monitors, tracks, trains and supports field staff throughout the CDA process according to CDA protocol. Assists Education staff with obtaining required credentials. Monitors early childhood education practices and provides feedback. Must be a self-starter. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education.
